Tooth Decay Fillings

Tooth decay fillings are one of the most common and effective treatments used to restore a tooth damaged by cavities. When decay destroys part of the tooth enamel, a filling is placed to clean out the infected area and restore the tooth's structure and function. The dentist first removes the decayed portion, cleans the cavity, and then fills it with a suitable material such as composite resin (tooth-colored), amalgam (silver), gold, or ceramic.
